The research vehicle autoCARGO demonstrates a pioneering solution for automated parcel delivery over the last mile. The centerpiece is the automated, bidirectional parcel handover: a robotic arm transfers parcels between the research vehicle autoCARGO and an autonomous mobile robot. This seamless interaction enables flexible, efficient and contactless delivery – an important step towards autonomous logistics processes.
State of the Art
Until now, bidirectional parcel handover has only been realized between the research vehicle autoCARGO and a fixed parcel station.
Technological Innovations
The research vehicle autoCARGO expands the possibilities of autonomous logistics through an automated rendezvous with an autonomous mobile robot. Both systems are precisely aligned using external position correction data, enabling reliable and smooth parcel delivery – even in dynamic or unstructured environments.
