autoSHUTTLE: Barrier-Free and Inclusive Mobility

Summary

The research vehicle autoSHUTTLE demonstrates an inclusive and barrier-free passenger experience in public transportation. The focus is on easier boarding for people with reduced mobility, passenger comfort and targeted information transfer in exceptional situations – for example by recognizing calls for help in the passenger compartment. In addition, the research vehicle autoSHUTTLE is integrated into the overall system of the digital live twin and reacts dynamically to sovereign interventions by the control center.

State of the Art

Automated shuttle fleets are already in use today in limited operating areas. However, the integration of visual and acoustic signals in the vehicle interior has so far been lacking – an aspect which, according to studies, can help to significantly reduce the risk of motion sickness, among other things.

Technological Innovations

The research vehicle autoSHUTTLE centers on the user by integrating digital accessibility, the recognition of calls for help and sirens as well as measures to reduce passenger discomfort in the interior. It is also seamlessly connected with the live digital twin.
