Digital Live Twin: Real-time Traffic Image

Summary

The live twin is a digital representation of the cooperative intelligent transportation system (C-ITS). It is based on data provided by various connected vehicles and intelligent infrastructure and thus generates a highly precise image of the current traffic situation. In addition to a comprehensive visualization, the digital twin serves as the central data basis for numerous connected functions within the mobility system, which can be experienced in the 12 demonstrations.

State of the Art

Established message formats standardized by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) are used for data exchange between vehicles and infrastructure. These formats are already being used in real environments.

Technological Innovations

We are demonstrating a holistically connected traffic system that goes beyond classic vehicle-to-infrastructure communication (V2I). In addition, the control center and an emergency vehicle are actively integrated into the data exchange. This creates a comprehensive digital twin of traffic, which enables improved coordination, predictive control and an increased level of road safety.
