Mid-Term Event

As part of the international VDI-Congress Electronics In Vehicles (ELIV), the mid-term event of our autotech.agil research project took place in Bonn from October 16 to 17, 2024.

In close cooperation between industry and science, the consortium is further developing the disruptive architectures implemented in the predecessor project UNICARagil. The focus is on the development of innovative architectures and tools for intelligent mobility systems.

With a project volume of approximately 30 million euros and funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the consortium is proud to present the first research results on open software and hardware architecture for the mobility system of the future, and to turn them into a tangible experience.

You can view all the contributions online afterwards. Look forward to interesting presentations on the results of our research by our experts and gain insights into the various research topics.

You can also access the press release online.

Lightning Talk on the main stage: “From UNICARagil to autotech.agil – Future Mobility Systems enabling Autonomous Driving”

In the two-minute Lightning Talk, Timo Woopen (Thinking Cars GmbH) spoke on the main stage about “From UNICARagil to autotech.agil – Future Mobility Systems enabling Autonomous Driving”.

Innovative Pitch of selected project milestones, including software architecture and middleware, on the start-up stage

On the start-up stage, Raphael van Kempen (Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) – RWTH Aachen University) presented the research perspective from the joint project autotech.agil in the pitch “Research & Industry Exploring New Architectures for Future Mobility”.

Thomas Schulik (ZF Friedrichshafen AG) emphasized how the industrial partners also benefit from the work in the research project.

Technical Exhibition with demonstrations and videos on the topics of “Future Mobility Systems”, “Automated Driving” and “Software Architecture & Tools”

At the World Conference Center’s Rhine level, the autotech.agil consortium presented the first highlights of the research work at the midterm of the project at booth 100. In addition to the fully automated and sustainable research vehicle autoTAXI, there were many interesting research topics to discover on demonstrators and videos.

The first video gives you an initial overview of the autotech.agil project and the project partners involved:

The mobility system of the future is connected. In this video, we highlight our groundbreaking research on cooperative mobility functions, including a digital twin of traffic and innovative applications shaping the transportation systems of tomorrow.

Automated driving can only be safe if the software behind it is robust and reliable, even in challenging environmental conditions. In our third video, we highlight some of the key functional components that enable safe and efficient vehicle automation are presented in this video:

To master the complexity of developing the mobility system under consideration, a suitable software architecture and tools are needed. In the following video, we present some of the work that has been done in this area:
